The meeting was held at the beautiful Radautz Stud in northern Romania. I took the opportunity to tour a bit of Romania with fellow Shagya breeder Kjell Jormfeld from Sweden. We drove through Romania from Budapest, visiting the tourist sites and stopping in small villages. A Shagya show was held in conjunction with the meeting. The horses of the Radautz Stud were highly athletic and it was great to see lots of bay color here. After the meeting we were invited to visit the Kabiuk Stud in Bulgaria with Dr Walter Huber and stud manager Svetlo Kastchiev, an FEI level dressage rider. We saw nearly all the young colts and went to the yards filled with mares and foals. The mares and foals are let out to graze on the hillsides during the day. We got to ride through those hills and fields - Walter on a Shagya and I was on a nice Bulgarian WB. Svetlo was an excellent host and took us to the local historical sites each evening. I never knew Bulgaria had such amazing historical sites. It really was such a fantastic trip!
